Emergency crews responded to a sledding accident in southwest Columbia near the Country Club of Missouri on La Rail Drive off Forum Boulevard.

20-year-old Kathleen Oglesby was sledding down the hill and hit a tree, and she was unable to move after the collision.

The woman was being transported to a local hospital for a traumatic injury. Officials at the scene told ABC 17 she was awake and able to talk.

The accident happened just before 5:00 p.m.

According to the Father Tolton Catholic High School’s Facebook page, Oglesby had surgery Tuesday for a back injury.

Her younger sister was with her on the sled, but is doing well.
