Killer on the loose in Jefferson City
Police said whoever killed a 52-year-old man in Jefferson City is considered armed and dangerous.
On Monday, the department officially identified the victim as Johnny Evans of Jefferson City. He was found shot to death near his apartment in the 1100 block of East High Street around 1 p.m. Sunday.
Police said there are no suspects or suspect descriptions as of now. They currently do not have a motive, but the investigation is still in the early stages.
Officers found Evans unconscious with two apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died shorty after.
Jefferson City detectives were on the scene Sunday afternoon investigating. According to initial reports, after Evans was shot, he was able to get to a neighbor’s apartment, who then called 911.
Neighbors who knew Evans told ABC 17 News he was a quiet man who kept to himself.
Police are talking to people who were associated with Evans during the time of the homicide.
