Jefferson City man killed in crash
A man died after his truck crashed into a guardrail and flipped in Cole County early Friday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Derek Schrimpf of Jefferson City was driving along Highway 54 near Shepherd Hills Road shortly after midnight.
His truck went off the road, hit a guardrail and flipped, throwing Schrimpf outside. Schrimpf, 47, was not wearing a seat belt, and died at the scene.
This is Highway Patrol Troop F’s third fatality this month, and 71st for the year.
