House north of Columbia damaged by fire

A house north of Columbia was damage by a fire early Monday. Firefighters were called to the scene in the 1600 block of Prathersville road shortly before 3 a.m.

Part of the home’s front and roof were damaged by the fire, and the damage is estimated at $50,000.

The hardest hit were the kitchen and living room.

A mother, father, and four kids were in the home at the time, but they all made it out safely.

The cause is still under investigation.
