Hwy. 54 closed in Jefferson City for semi-truck crash

Highway 54 eastbound in Jefferson City shutdown in both directions near Missouri Boulevard Friday morning after a logging truck was involved in a crash.

MoDot confirms the wreck was reported around 11:15 a.m. just west of the Missouri River bridge.

Officials expected the road to stay closed for about three hours. A westbound lane was also closed for cleanup.

Police urged drivers to avoid the area, because they had to bring in another logging truck from outside Jefferson City to carry away the remaining logs before clearing the highway.
