Gun threat proves unfounded at Moberly schools
Officials released a letter Thursday confirming a recent gun threat came back empty, with no signs of weapons, bombs or any violent act.
The district said on Wednesday the Moberly High School principal, Mr. Vitt, heard a student threatened to bring a gun to class. Officials said there was enough concern to call authorities, and the school’s police resource officer immediately removed the student.
Leaders considered sending a letter Wednesday, but did not feel there was enough to report. They later apologized if the delay helped spread some of the early rumors. They also emphasized their staff go through active shooter drills every year.
