Suspects on the run after shooting on Quail Drive
Two men that police consider armed and dangerous are on the run after a shooting on Quail Drive Monday night.
Columbia police were called to a report of shots fired in the back parking lot of an apartment building on the street. When the officer arrived, he saw two men running from the area into the woods.
He tried to chase after them, and several other officers joined. The K-9 unit was also brought out and officers set up a perimeter in the neighborhood. But after about two and a half hours of searching, they were unable to find the suspects.
Officers tell ABC 17 they did find a man in the woods and detained him because they weren’t sure if he was involved or not.
They also detained two cars at the scene and took one person in for questioning for their possible involvement in an unrelated crime.
Police said no one was hurt in Monday night’s shooting and they didn’t find evidence of a shooting. Witnesses apparently told police the men were shooting into the air and at the trees — not at each other.
The suspects are described as two black men, one wearing a red shirt and jeans and one wearing a white shirt and jeans.
