Still no charges filed on Moniteau County prosecutor

People in Moniteau County were wondering if there was still enough time for someone to run against Shayne Healea in next week’s election, but the Moniteau County Clerk’s Office said no.

Healea was arrested after his truck crashed through a window at Addison’s on Cherry Street in downtown Columbia Saturday night. He bonded out, but as of Monday evening, he is still not charged. To find out more about the weekend crash, click here.

On Monday several people in Moniteau County said if someone else was running against Healea, it might sway their opinion. Others said they would have to see charges before it affected their vote.

The Moniteau County clerk’s office said the deadline to declare a write-in candidate passed last Friday. The clerk’s office said any voter can write in any name, but they are not required to count those write-ins.

As for Healea’s standing as a prosecutor, The Missouri Supreme Court Office of Chief Disciplinary Council said they can take action against any lawyer or prosecutor in Missouri, but they need to see charges before they can move forward.
