Contract awarded for Capital City road project
A contract has been awarded for improvements on a major Jefferson City roadway.
At a meeting in St. Louis Wednesday, MoDOT awarded a contract to Emery Sapp and Sons of Columbia for $20.3 million.
The improvements include a new interchange at Highway 50 and Lafayette Street, and adding a lane in each direction from Monroe to Lafayette, and from Lafayette to Clark Ave.
Five bridges will be replaced along the corridor, and one will be rehabilitated, according to MoDOT.
Initial work on the project is scheduled to begin by the end of the year.
