Water Co Op hit with multiple violations

A Callaway County water supply system is hit with multiple violations for drinking water standards and failing to monitor its water well. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources said the Mokane Water Co OP missed required monitoring reports and its water tested high for bacteria.

The Department of Natural Resources said the Mokane Water Co Op public water system didn’t submit a required water sample for six months during a three year period, resulting in a major monitoring violation.

In a public notice from the Department of Natural Resources, officials said the Mokane water sample from August showed high levels of the bacteria coliform. The report said it can be an “indicator that other, potentially-harmful, bacteria may be present.”

On Monday, the Department of Natural Resources said the September water samples from Mokane were all clear. Officials said the Mokane Water Co Op is now in compliance with all monitoring requirements.
