MU School of Journalism gets $10 million

The University of Missouri School of Journalism received a $10 million donation on Friday. The gift is coming from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, matching funds from private individuals.

The money is going to support 50 fellowships for both associate and full professors. This will be the last gift from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, which is wrapping up at the end 2017. It has given a total of $100 million. The $10 million donation will be available after the foundation hands out the rest of its assets in 2021.

“In the spirit of its founder, the Reynolds Foundation has made a significant impact on the University of Missouri and the entire journalism profession over the past 60 years,” said MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin.

Donors who provide matching gifts can also name specific people for fellowships. Anyone who donates $200,000 right away can name a fellowship.
