JCPD warns of Scholastic scam
Jefferson City Police is warning of a scam involving multiple schools and a source posing as Scholastic School Supply.
The company allegedly requests payment for items that were never ordered.
Police said while the name is similar to Scholastic, Scholastic School Supply is not affiliated with them and their actions are believed to be a scam. The scam is known to have been happening in other states, as well.
Scholastic has confirmed they are getting calls about the scam and are not involved.
Police urge those receiving false invoices not to pay for products not ordered.
