Heart of America Marathon finishes in downtown Columbia this morning
The Heart of America Marathon got off to a late start this morning in Columbia after organizers delayed it due to weather, the first time in its 55 year history.
The 212 runners left about 7 a.m. on the 26.2-mile loop. The first runners passed through the finish line around 9:30 a.m. The race concluded with runners heading north on Providence to Stadium, east to College, north to Broadway and west to Seventh Street.
Andrew Danner of Louisville, Kentucky took the top spot, finishing with a time of 2:45:38. The event is hosted by the Columbia Track Club.
