Bee Line Snack Shop robbed in the early hours of Labor Day

Three unknown suspects robbed the Bee Line Snack Shop on Old Lohman Road in Cole County around 5:30 Monday morning.

Captain John Wheeler with the Cole County Sheriff’s Department said, “Someone tried to break the window out of the store clerks vehicle while she was taking a break. They took a rock, hit the glass trying to break the drivers window out.”

Wheeler said the suspects tried to get inside the clerks car.

That’s when she put it in reverse, left the parking lot and called 9-11.

Wheeler confirmed the three suspects stole cigarettes, tequila and whiskey from the store after they broke the front window with a rock.

Wheeler said the clerk did the right thing by leaving.

“She did the best thing she could in a situation like that and took herself out of the situation. So, kudos to her for thinking that fast.”

He said the clerk did the right thing by calling 9-11 so quickly as well.

This allowed not only the Sheriff’s Department to respond, but also the Jefferson City Police Department.

Wheeler said with the good video surveillance and the $500 reward out for information, he is sure they will find who robbed the store.

If anyone has any information regarding the burglary, the Sheriff’s Department urges them to call the their department at at 573-634-9160 or Crimestoppers to remain anonymous at 659-TIPS.
