The gun used in the killing of a 6 year old boy linked to the alleged killers father
Sheriff Denis Crane of Callaway County confirmed the autopsy of 6 year old Dayne Hathman started at 10 Friday morning.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department released a probable cause statement showing Glen Willet, Scottie Willets father, reported the .40 caliber Hi-Point handgun missing at 3:30 AM Thursday.
This was an hour after Dayne Hathmans grandmother reported Dayne missing.
The court documents show Glen Willet stated he did not know Scottie had the gun.
They also state someone saw Scottie with the weapon.
As far as the Fulton community they are showing support to Daynes mother.
Co-workers at the Post Office bar and Grill started a website fund where people can donate to help the mother with expenses for the funeral, as well as expenses while she is not working.
Mayce Sing works with Daynes mother.
“We have raised four thousand dollars so far.”
Sing said they are also setting up various fundraisers throughout the community.
She said she did not expect something like this to happen in her town.
“With all of this I thought just all of humanity was lost, but a lot of people are coming together to show that they really care,” said Sing.
The situation also hits home with Sing because her grandparents used to live in the same house Dayne was killed in.
“It broke my heart. I’ve always told Laydanea I was going to kidnap him and keep him. He’s the sweetest little boy. She’d bring him in here a lot and Scottie was actually in here a lot and never would I have expected this. That’s Laydanea’s world and it’s terrible he was taken from her,” said Sing.
