Mourners gather to remember Michael Brown

A prayer service provided Mid-Missourians a connection to the events in Ferguson on Monday. In a prayer-filled emotional service, community members gathered in the central part of the city to remember Michael Brown.

Around 10:00 Monday morning, mourners of all faiths gathered in Russell Chapel C.M.E near Providence and Ash street. Organizers said they came together to grieve in solidarity with Michael Brown’s family. During the service, clergy from multiple Columbia churches took turns preaching. Attendees said they were there to remember Michael Brown and to learn from his death. The Russell Chapel prayer service was one of many held around the state that took place at the same time as Michael Brown’s funeral.
