Jefferson City police blame road rage for crash on Missouri River bridge

Police responded to a road crash late Monday afternoon on the Missouri River Bridge just north of downtown Jefferson City.

Officials say a driver cut off another car, and then plowed into the guard rail so hard the vehicle flipped over and rolled onto its roof. Witnesses say the car almost went over the side into the water. Officers blame road rage for the incident and ticketed both drivers for careless and imprudent driving.

The dispute first started on Highway 63 south and continued onto Highway 54 going over the bridge.

Traffic heading southbound was shutdown between 5 and 6 p.m. ABC 17 News confirmed both lanes of traffic had reopened by 6:15 p.m. Drivers in the area reported significant delays, even once the damage was cleared.

Police say nobody was hurt in the crash.
