Key facts on new recall for peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots

As more details emerge in this week’s recall for listeria on peaches and other fruit from California, here are some key facts about the latest public health alert.

After tests recently came back positive for listeria, the Wawona Company decided to pull its yellow and white nectarines, peaches, black plums and pluots. That includes regular and organic brands.

A few nationwide chains already announced they are taking action. Those are: Costco, Walmart, Sam’s, Kroger, Aldi, and Trader Joes.

But the fruit could be in other stores, under the Wawona, Harvest Sweet or Sweet 2 Eat labels.

Listeria can cause miscarriages in pregnant women, and symptoms could be delayed for months.

The FDA also has a searchable list of the product codes. That is available here.
