Man dies following suicide attempt in jail
An inmate at the Howard County Jail has died following a suicide attempt Sunday night.
A detention officer found the man trying to hang himself at around 7:45 p.m.
Officers performed emergency life saving techniques before the man was taken to Cooper County Hospital.
He was transported to University Hospital in Columbia where he died Monday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is helping the Howard County Sheriff with an investigation into his death.
