“Fun Day” held for Fulton boy battling cancer

Super heroes of all shapes and sizes ran across the lawn outside the Callaway County YMCA in Fulton on Sunday.

The miniature mighty men (and women) were out to have fun and raise money for a classmate and neighbor, Sam Santhuff.

Santhuff, 5, has relapsed and begun his second battle against a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). He started more chemotherapy in late March.

Sunday’s event included runs, races, a super hero costume contest and more.

“There have been a lot of fundraisers for Super Sam and various other people who need help,” supporter Sarah Beorcherding said Sunday. “The community is always willing to step up and help those families.”

Friends told ABC 17 News last week that “Super Sam” was making remarkable progress and had impressed his doctors.
