Columbia man arrested for assaulting woman with a gun
A Columbia man was arrested Monday for assaulting a woman with a handgun.
Police say the incident happened on Feb. 4 in the 300 block of Highview Avenue. Officers say Curtis Jones, 27, got into an argument over drugs with a 48-year-old woman.
According to police, Jones struck the woman in the head with a handgun, causing the gun to fire. The victim suffered a serious laceration to her head.
Jones was arrested for armed criminal action, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and possession with intent to distribute.
His total bond has been set at $225,000. He remains at the Boone County Jail as of Tuesday night.
