Schlitterbahn Kansas City building world’s tallest, fastest water slide

The tallest, fastest and steepest water slide in the world is coming to Kansas City, Kan.

Schlitterbahn is building The Verrckt (which means “insane” in German) Meg-A-Blaster. The ride will open in May when the park reopens for the season.

The company says the new 17-story thrill slide will feature four-person rafts that drop from a tower and speed across a five-story hill.

According to affiliate WDAF-TV, Jeff Henry, Schlitterbahn co-owner and designer of the slide, told KansasCity.com that the height and speed of the ride will be officially revealed when the project is complete.

However, Henry promised the ride will be higher than the current record holder located in Brazil. That ride is 134 feet tall and reaches speeds of 65 mph.
