Man makes threat against Columbia Mall
Columbia police searched the area in and around the Columbia Mall Saturday afternoon after a vague bomb threat.
Officers told an ABC 17 News crew at the scene a man in a trench coat was overheard telling a woman he was with that he was “going to blow this whole place up.”
By the time additional officers arrived at the mall, the couple had left. Some officers had already been on scene to handle with a shoplifting call, according to a sergeant.
Police were reviewing surveillance video from the mall Saturday evening. The suspect was described only as a black man with a black trench coat.
Columbia Mall was never evacuated, though some ABC 17 News viewers reported being put on lockdown during the search.
