Family mourns man hit and killed on I-70

The family of the man hit and killed on Interstate 70 wants answers about his death.

Ennis Marquis Patrick, 36, lovingly remembered as Quis, was struck early Saturday morning.

The investigation of the accident is still ongoing.

Police were originally called by a truck driver who thought he hit a deer. A few hours later, several others called police to report seeing a large amount of blood on the highway.

Police got to the scene, near the Lake of the Woods exit, and found human remains along with a bicycle they believe he was riding when the accident occurred.

The family tells ABC 17 News it wants the driver to be held responsible so family members can find out what happened in Patrick’s death.

His family gathered together Monday to remember their favorite memories of him.

His brother, Tavares Patrick, remembers Quis as everyone’s friend.

“Everyone who knew Quis loved him,” Tavares said.

His family said he was used to riding his bike everywhere, and never imagined anything like this would ever happen.

Patrick’s mother, Helen Patrick, said she was happy she always told Quis that she loved him.

“I’m just glad I told him I loved him before I left that morning,” she said.

The heartbroken family spoke about his plans for his career.

“He had just told us Thursday that he enrolled in college,” his sister, Tauriea Williams said. “It just happened too soon, it’s just crazy.”

As the family tries to move on, they said all it wants now are answers.

“We just want to know what really happened,” Tavares said.

The family is holding a memorial service for Quis on Friday from 3-8 p.m. at Rock Quarry.
