Columbia high school coach back from suspension

Hickman High School’s head football coach Arnel Monroe returned to his regular job duties, according to the district on Thursday.

Monroe will return for the senior night game Friday night. Last week, some concerns were raised about Monroe, but after a lengthy review, school officials say they are confident there was no wrong-doing.

Columbia Public Schools spokesperson Michelle Baumstark said the district “fully supports him as a member of the Hickman High School community.”

Monroe did not travel with the team last Friday for a match-up against Jackson.

Assistant coaches Ryan Nesbitt and Craig Seymour took over the duties during the temporary suspension.
