Judge reinstates suspended Ashland alderman

A Boone County judge has ruled in favor of an Ashland alderman who has been fighting his suspension.

Jeff Anderson was suspended from his position in September.

Anderson took legal action against the city and on Wednesday a judge made a ruling in the case.

The judge ruled in favor of Anderson and he is to be reinstated immediately. That means he will regain access to Ashland City Hall as well as his email.

Anderson also wanted the city to pay for his legal fees, but the judge did not order the city to do so. His attorney told ABC 17 News he will file another motion to get those fees paid for.

However, the city may still go through with plans to impeach Anderson. The city’s lawyer said paperwork has been drafted and a hearing is set for Nov. 11.

It’s unknown if the city will continue with those impeachment plans.
