Alleged sexual assault in University of Missouri residence hall

The University of Missouri Police Department has identified a suspect in an alleged sexual assault in a campus residence hall.

Officers say Residential Life staff received a report of a sexual assault that happened in the early morning of Sun., Oct. 6 at a dorm in the Rollins group.

UMPD says the assault involved a female victim and a man who she did not know. Police say the suspect entered the woman’s room when she answered the door, expecting to see a friend.

Police say all exterior doors to the residence hall were locked at the time of the assault.

The victim has received medical attention and other support, however, she has chosen not to speak with law enforcement, according to the police department. UMPD says school officials are working with her to provide assistance.

On Oct. 18, campus police say a suspect has been identified in the case, but no name was provided. Investigators will continue to work with the victim and other officials.

The only suspect description that police released originally was that the suspect is a larger male.
