Hallsville schools put on lockdown

All Hallsville R-IV schools went on lockdown Wednesday morning.

School officials confirmed the lockdown to ABC 17 News, stating that a threat was made against a parent who has students in the district.

“There was a threat made in the community and we’re responding to that,” said superintendent John Robertson.

Robertson told ABC 17 News it is a “level one” lockdown, meaning recess will be inside Wednesday and schools will remain on lockdown until further notice.

Officials say they are taking necessary precautions and that all students are safe.

However, the school is not involving local law enforcement with the threat. Both the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and Hallsville Police Department say they are not investigating because the school district has not reached out to them for assistance.
