Police investigating reported sexual assault in University of Missouri residence hall

The University of Missouri Police Department is investigating a reported sexual assault that happened in a campus residence hall.

MUPD said a University Hospital employee asked police to take custody of a sexual assault kit on Monday. The kit is from a Sept. 22 examination on a female victim.

Officers say the victim did not want police involved at the time of the exam.

According to MUPD, the victim is an MU student who said she was sexually assaulted in the Laws Residential Hall between 12 and 2 a.m. on Sept. 22.

No suspect description was provided.

This is the second reported assault in under a week. On Friday, MUPD released information about an alleged sexual assault that happened Oct. 6 in another residence hall.
