Shots fired on Quail Drive in Columbia

Columbia police have made an arrest in a shooting that happened on Quail Drive late Monday.

Around 11 p.m., callers reported hearing gunfire around the 2600 block of Quail Drive.

Officers found shell casings and say no one was hurt and no property damaged.

Police arrested Matthew Johnson in connection with the shooting. He was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon.

Police say Johnson witnessed a disturbance with a female victim known to Johnson and another female. They say Johnson retrieved a handgun from his home and returned to the female victim’s house and fired the handgun into the air at least two times.

Investigators told ABC 17 News they think the shooting is part of an ongoing dispute.
