Parking choices limited for Root N Blues
The Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival is starting a day earlier, adding bands to the lineup on Friday. But this year’s biggest change will be parking.
The festival is now at Stephens Park, which means traffic will be directed downtown with the use of a shuttle. There will be no spots available at Boone Hospital, just across the street from the park.
“Essentially there is not a whole lot of parking,” said festival organizer Richard King. King told ABC 17 News that traffic will only be an issue if people come to the festival with the intention to park close to the venue.
The shuttle costs $5 for the weekend and is running continuously between all the downtown garages, which will be free. The five parking garages are at 8th and Walnut, 5th and Walnut, 6th and Cherry, 8th and Cherry, and 10th and Cherry.
The shuttle will start 30 minutes before gates open each day, and they will last an hour after the music ends.
Local hotels will also provide shuttle stops, including Holiday Inn Executive Center, Budget Host Inn on north Rangeline, Stoney Creek Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, and Hampton Inn & Suite.
