Thousands lose power near the Lake

Thousands of people near the Lake of the Ozarks lost electricity after storms on Sunday.

Strong winds and lightning started after 9 in the morning, leaving scattered damage, including several downed power lines and tree limbs.

Co-Mo Electric says at the peak, about 1,300 homes were in the dark. At least three poles were snapped. Employees called crews from Tipton and used all of their available linemen.

Ameren also lost service for about 1,500 customers. Most outages were fixed by late afternoon.
