Many fans report issues with the heat

This weekend tents started going up near Faurot Field more than 12 hours in advance.

Because Saturday’s kickoff was so late and temperatures were high, many people experienced issues with the heat.

Officials at the University of Missouri police department admit they see more 911 calls for August games because it is so hot.

Last year, first responders handled 109 medial emergencies for the whole season. On Saturday, they reported at least 46 medical emergencies, many related to the weather. Twelve patients were also taken to the hospital.

On game days, the Columbia Boone County 911 facility adds one extra worker for each shift. Three ambulances are stationed near the stadium’s command center, and more paramedics patrol the grounds on foot.
