Video captures dog’s emotional welcoming of Navy Lieutenant

It’s a video capturing the hearts of millions worldwide.

In a short video posted to YouTube, a dog emotionally welcomes back her owner, who had just returned from a six-month overseas deployment with the U.S. Navy.

The video captures Lt. Gary Daugherty and Bugaboo reconnecting after months apart and shows the dog standing up on her hind legs and putting her front paws on his shoulders. She licks his face and yips repeatedly.

In an interview with ABC News on Tuesday, Daugherty said he and his dog had a special bond but that she’d never reacted this way before.

“She was just going crazy, and I was just like, ‘Oh, my baby.’ I was talking to her just a little bit,” he said. “She didn’t leave my side the rest of the night.”

The video has been seen more than 4 million times since it was posted in June.

Daugherty is scheduled to deploy again soon.
