Moberly bowling alley to reopen in October

The Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday the former Community Lanes will reopen in the fall.

The bowling alley closed in May after more than 50 years of serving the city.

Two former Moberly residents, Rich and Meg Morenz, purchased the facility and its assets earlier this week.

The new owners will rename the bowling alley Memory Lanes and they plan to incorporate the nostalgia experienced over the last half-century into the new business. They are asking anyone to share memorabilia and photos with them to display in the bowling alley.

According to a press release, all of the original entertainment options will be available, including leagues, open bowling, party packages, billiards, video games and a snack bar.

The owners plan to make the facility smoke-free when it reopens and update the equipment in the future.

Memory Lanes is schedule to open on Oct. 4.
