New employer possibly coming to Jefferson City
Jefferson City, its Chamber of Commerce and Cole County have all teamed up in hopes of getting a new employer in Jefferson City.
The Chamber of Commerce hopes to sell a plot of land in east Jefferson City to ROAR Real Estate and promises a discounted price.
The city and county promise to run the sewage line to the property, as well as a rail spur.
“The city will bring the sewer line to the plant so they can develop it, and secondarily, if the business takes off, then in three years, the city and county have agreed to connect to the rail spur,” said Jefferson City attorney Drew Hilpert.
In return, ROAR would build a packaging plant that would provide jobs to dozens of Jefferson City residents.
The chamber is expected to vote on the project in two weeks.
