Students finally move into new housing complex
About 600 displaced students will move into their new housing development on Saturday just two days before classes start at the University of Missouri.
City inspectors went to the Aspen Heights complex near Grindstone Parkway and Highway 63 in south Columbia multiple times on Friday. According to Aspen Heights spokesman Stuart Watkins, the walk-through went well.
Only around 300 residents were able to get inside their homes by the originally-scheduled date of Aug. 1 due to construction delays.
Watkins would not say how much this delay is costing Aspen Heights, but in addition to the hotel stays, the company handed out gifts of $400 to $600 to cover extra expenses.
