Route Z roundabout at St. Charles Road opens in east Columbia

The Missouri Department of Transportation opened the roundabout at Route Z and St. Charles Road in east Columbia Wednesday.

The roundabout is the second of three major projects along Route Z completed so far. The final phase will be to resurface Route Z from I-70 to St. Charles Road and to widen shoulders.

MoDOT expects to have all of the projects completed by the time classes begin at Battle High School on Aug. 20.

Officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tue., Aug. 13 to celebrate the completion of the Route Z project.

Road crews started the Route Z project to improve safety and accommodate increased traffic because of Battle High School’s opening this fall. The first phase, replacing the Route Z bridge over I-70, was completed in mid-July.
