Former Mizzou rushing leader arrested

Boone County deputies arrested former University of Missouri running back Zack Abron Wednesday on charges stemming from an incident that occurred Aug. 4.

Abron has bonded out of jail after being arrested on charges of domestic assault and child endangerment. Bail was set at $11,000.

Abron played at Mizzou from 2000-2003 and finished his career as the school’s all-time leading rusher with 3,198 yards. He also scored 42 career touchdowns for the Tigers including 17 his junior season and 14 his senior season.

His rushing record was broken just two years later by quarterback Brad Smith.

Abron joined the Battle High School coaching staff as an assistant earlier this year.
