American Pickers TV show filming in Boonville

A popular television show about antiques and collectibles is filming in Boonville Thursday.

Our newspaper partner, The Boonville Daily News, reports the crew from The History Channel’s American Pickers is filming in the city.

Just last month, Boonville’s City Council discussed bringing the show to the area. A scout had visited the city July 5.

If you haven’t heard of the show, the show is described as: “Pickers like Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz are on a mission to recycle America, even if it means diving into countless piles of grimy junk or getting chased off a gun-wielding homeowner’s land. Hitting back roads from coast to coast, the two men earn a living by restoring forgotten relics to their former glory, transforming one person’s trash into another’s treasure. American Pickers follows them as they scour the country for hidden gems in junkyards, basements, garages and barns, meeting quirky characters and hearing their amazing stories.

Frank Fritz told an ABC 17 News viewer that the show will air in a couple of months.

Earlier this year, The Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures filmed at the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City. That episode is set to air later this year. No exact date has been given.
