Playground equipment temperatures pose dangers for kids

With Thursday’s hot temperatures, parents have to worry about another kind of burn other than sunburn on their children.

Emergency responders say that parents need to be cautious about thermal burns from hot temperatures on playground equipment.

They say that any kind of playground equipment is susceptible to getting too hot, not just metal playgrounds.

ABC 17 News tested the temperatures at Douglass Park today and found the slide was 148 degrees, the bench was 136 degrees, and the rockers were 121 degrees.

Emergency crews recommend parents check all playground equipment before letting their kids play.
