Construction crews hit gas line on Stadium Blvd.

Crews repaired a gas line that was ruptured during construction on Stadium Boulevard.

Around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, the Columbia Fire Department was called to the intersection of Stadium and Broadway for a report of broken gas line.

According to Columbia Public Works spokesperson Steve Sapp, crews hit a two-inch gas line while doing construction for the Stadium Boulevard and I-70 diamond interchange project.

Sapp says the gas line was not in the correct location and was not properly marked.

Ameren workers were able to turn off the gas and repair the line. Utility officials say approximately 24 customers were affected by the break, mainly at Courtyard Apartments.
