Highway Patrol releases 4th of July enforcement campaign numbers

The Missouri State Highway Patrol released its DWI saturation enforcement campaign numbers from the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Over the long holiday weekend, troopers conducted increased patrols at the Lake of the Ozarks, in Cooper County and every 20 miles on I-70 in Mid-Missouri.

At the Lake of the Ozarks, water patrol troopers stopped 68 vessels. Four were arrested for boating while intoxicated, while troopers also arrested three others for felony crimes. The water patrol issued 108 warnings.

In Cooper County, troopers pulled over 38 cars and arrested one person for driving while intoxicated. They also issued several citations for speed, seat belt and driver’s license violations.

During the Highway Patrol’s “20-Mile Trooper” program, troopers were stationed on I-70 in Boone, Callaway, Cooper and Montgomery counties every 20 miles. Overall, troopers stopped 215 cars.

One person was arrested for drunk driving and troopers gave out 86 speeding tickets. Five were arrested for drug crimes.
