Drunken boaters at Lake of the Ozarks
Water Patrol troopers will be watching for drunk boaters over the 4th of July holiday.
“We understand people are going to use alcohol out here; we just try to get them to have a designated driver,” says Water Patrolman Scott White.
Officers will be watching for any swerving and dangerous driving of the boats.
White believes that drunken driving is extremely dangerous on the water because it can be difficult to know where the other boats are.
“It’s similar to a great big mall parking lot,” he said. “You have boats going all different directions, and there is no center line, stop signs or yield signs.”
