Stolen car leads to Boone County arrest

Boone County deputies arrested a Columbia man Sunday morning when the car he was driving registered in their system as stolen.

Chet Jones was driving a 2010 Honda on westbound Interstate 70 just after midnight when a deputy’s license plate reader alerted patrol the car had been stolen.

According to a news release, the deputy and Missouri State Highway Patrol pulled Jones over on Clark Lane near the Interstate 70-Highway 63 connector.

Jones was in possession of marijuana at the time He was also arrested for driving while suspended and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Jones had bonded out of the Boone County Jail Sunday night.
