Cole County on track for more DWI arrests in 2013
Cole County sheriffs deputies said Sunday they are on track to have more DWI arrests this year than in 2012.
A Saturday night checkpoint yielded only one driving while intoxicated arrest. Seven people were picked up for license violations.
In all, deputies stopped 406 vehicles during the checkpoint on Highway 54 at Hammond Drive. MoDOT and several other agencies helped with the checkpoint, according to a news release.
Last year, deputies made more than 200 DWI arrests. Deputies were on pace to top that in 2013. Statewide, traffic crashes have decreased 20 percent since the same time last year.
Cole County paid for Saturday’s checkpoint through traffic grants.
