Lafayete and Dunklin intersection made safer
The Cole County commission approved a plan for the improvement of the Lafayete St. and East Dunklin Street intersection.
This intersection is already busy and will be increasingly so because of additional ramps set to be built that will connect the Lafayete street to State Highway 50.
The intersection is heavily used by Lincoln University and Jefferson City High School students.
Western District commissioner Kris Scheperle said that a roundabout or traffic signal “should be a great gateway to Lincoln University and Jefferson City High school at it’s current location.”
Cole County presiding commissioner Marc Cellinger says that it allows students “easier access and a more safe manor than the current ways that they have to get there.”
Officials say that it will create a safer environment for students because it will cut back on the traffic flow, allowing them to get to their location smoothly.
