Finger Lakes State Park beach to close this weekend

Four state park swimming beaches, including one in Columbia, will be closed this weekend due to water quality issues.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will close the swimming beach at Finger Lakes State Park after a water sample this week indicated higher than recommended bacteria levels.

Beaches at Harry S. Truman in Warsaw, Wakonda in La Grange, and Thousand Hills in Kirksville will be closed as well. Thousand Hills is also flooded.

The DNR says the beaches will reopen once tests confirm bacteria levels are within the recommended levels for swimming.
