Crews handle over 10 road closures in Mid-Missouri

One man escaped unhurt early Monday, after getting stuck in flood waters northwest of Columbia.

Emergency responders pulled him out just before 5 a.m. at one of the trouble areas near Route E and Perche Creek. Firefighters say he drove into ankle-deep water covering the road, trapping his vehicle.

Crews handled more than ten different road closures across Mid-Missouri Monday. Strawn Road off West Broadway shutdown at I-70 Drive Southwest. A large tree in Columbia blocked Northland Drive between Blue Ridge Road and Rangeline Street.

Flooding also blocked Route E in several spots near Perche Creek and Wilcox Road, north of the Columbia mall. Blackfoot Road north of Cosmo Park was covered in almost eight inches of water.

Red Rock Road near Dripping Springs Road outside Harrisburg washed out. Just to the north, part of Willis Road closed at Reeder Creek, and Lockwood Lane off Highway NN partially shutdown.

Five routes in Howard County closed for floods on Monday, including all of Route Z and a section of Highway 124 at Moniteau Creek.
