Columbia police, fire organize central city job fair

Police and fire crews wrapped up a job fair Saturday afternoon with several local employers looking to hire.

Interview coaches were giving advice and computers wherein constant use people created and edited their resumes.

Saturdaymorning,a steady stream of people came hoping to make connections with potential employers.

Naomi Jenkins is new to Columbia and looking for a job.

“I think anytime your looking for a job to be patient and do your due diligence and put in the application and be patient and wait it out so if anything it’s just a waiting game,” she said.

Jenkins said she came to the event hoping to make meaningful connections with an employers.

The job fair is another way for people in the community to meet local law enforcement.

Something law enforcement encourages and feels is a way to help give back to the community.

“It’s really cool what they’re doing. I think it’s great what they are doing for the community in general and everybody is really positive and helpful so I definitely got a good first impression of what the people inColumbiahave to offer the community.” Jenkins said.

Some employers at the event were the University of Missouri, The City of Columbia and Taco Bell.
